Gujarat HC Refuses to Ban Kedarnath Movie

A division seat of Chief Justice A S Dave and Biren Vaishnav J. rejected the PIL that requested for a prohibition on the release of the film saying that it hurts the “religious believes” of Hindus.

Prakash Rajput, leader of International Hindu Sena, had filed the PIL asserting that the celluloid hurt the beliefs of Hindus as it highlighted a Muslim boy fall for a Hindu girl.

In the petition, he claimed the film likewise highlighted intimate scenes at Kedarnath, a sacred site, which coincidentally thrived religious beliefs of Hindus.

Vehemently coming down on the solicitor, the court said the PIL was only a “publicity stunt”. Court also imposed a fine of Rs.5,000 on the petitioner.

Directed by Abhishek Kapoor, the motion picture demonstrates a well off Hindu young lady becoming hopelessly enamored with a Muslim guide amid a voyage through Kedarnath in Uttarakhand.
