Don’t Run Or Jog For First 10 Days Of November: CPCB

On Friday, October 26, 2018, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) said “the capital’s air is likely to turn so polluted in the days before and after Diwali that residents should minimise exposure and not run or jog during the first 10 days of November”.
CPCB also made recommendations to the Evironment Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority (EPCA), to ban on Construction activities for these 10 days in Delhi NCR, Shutting down of coal and biomass based industries from November 4 to 10 and advisories to people to limit travel on private vehicles, especially diesel vehicles.
The experts reported that the next 15 days are expected to witness a substantial increase in farm fires from current levels as most farmers harvest their farms and ready them for winter crops. So the fires are expected to peak around Diwali.
